999?

Let me ask you one question, When there's a fire, what number do you call? 999? no idea?

this incident happened last sunday at bangsar, somewhere near my colleague's house. He said the electric pole suddenly exploded and there's fire on it! He straight away rush to the phone and called 994. In case you don't know, 994 is to call the Bomba. So when he told them about this, the person said, kenapa call kita? call TNB la!!! He stood there in shock!!

when there's a fire called TNB?? ya, it's on a electric pole, but THERE's FIRE!! what 's on their mind? too lazy to rescue?

well, frankly speaking, i don't even know we need to call 994 when there's a fire. I thought if there's anything happened, just call 999. isn't that be the way? one number which controls everything? if it's emergency, how can i remember so many numbers? 994 for the bomba lar, 999 for polis lar, what about hospitals? how many numbers do i need to call in order to get help?

so back to my colleague, he said the bomba finally arrived after half an hour, luckily it's a small fire. If this is how they react when someone reported there's a fire, i think we should start storing water tanks in our house, in case anything happened, we can self rescue first, cos they will only reached half hour later.

If I'm not mistaken, long long time ago, you just need to call 999 for ANY emergency.

Then few years ago, it was different. You need to call certain numbers for certain emergency.

Then few weeks/months ago (if I'm not mistaken), they changed it to 999 for ALL emergency again.

Don't really bother with the number. If you have a handphone, just call 112. That's what I normally do.
